Feet Don’t Fail Me Now” was originally a half-hour fantasy written as a tribute to all the great programs I listened to in my youth. Radio was only voices, music and sound effects. All the rest was imagination. So I imagined “Jack in the Beanstalk” being thrown together with the disco-dance crazy of the 1970’s. In this case, Vinnie took the college tuition money his mother had saved and spent it on a pair of magic dancing shoes. You have to admire the kid's optimism.
I rather surprised myself that I could flesh out the superficial characters from the radio script into real people. The feature script retains the fantasy aura of the radio version. Admittedly, it would be difficult to produce as a live-action feature. It would, however, be a truly original anamation for the likes of Pixar.
